november 11, 1918

The war has finally ended after 3 long years. All those years just of shooting people and watching people die. I will never be the same after this experience of this and well i'm surprised i'm even alive. I saw my friends just die get blown apart by bombs or die long slow deaths from gunshot wounds. I hope the world will finally come to peace or was this war was just for people to die and take over places? I hope the world just gets along now.

all those world peace people say it is. the Germans were punished and we think they learned there lesson. I am so happy to see my family after so long. They were relived i was still alive.

march 20, 1917

The war is getting really bad now. I'm surprised that i haven't died this far into the war. There are all sorts if sicknesses going from trench to trench. thousands of people are dying from infections not by guns. Its really hard to be a soldier these days. I wish I can go home already. some people here at home are saying war is like a game. they are talking about cricket,soccer,and baseball. They're talking about no mans land and targets and all sorts of things like that. War is not a game if you've been there you wont think so.

august 12' 1915

The war for us the U.S has now started. Our officers are making us practice and study the rules so we are prepared for war. One thing they told us is to kill anyone who approaches us who is not a comrade or our captain tells says not to kill. I myself think they're telling us to do the wrong thing. I don't think everyone who is there should be killed. Like civilians if they do not attack us back we should just let them be. Thats kind of messed up to ruin a family just because they're are not American.

March 6, 1915.

Yesterday I saw a poster that says "would you stand by a bush fire raged get busy and drive the Germans back". I thought to myself that the army is trying to convince more and more people in this war. I don't see why so much people are trying to be convinced into joining the war. One man dies and the whole world is going to war. I don't think we should fight Germany. We have no reason to fight someone who did nothing to us.

This war is a complete waste of peoples lives. It has started just because 1 person who isn't even that important got shot.

january 12 1914

A war just started a couple days ago. Apparently most of the country's in the world are included in this world war. I am 19 and heard about this war. I didn't want to be in a war but they are drafting people since there's a lack of soldiers. just in case you the U.S gets involved so we have backup. I am really afraid I have never shot a person before or gotten shot. The pain of a bullet piercing your body must hurt like hell. I Really hope our country doesn't get included in this war. Not seeing your family for a long time would be sad.
